Joint-As-You-Go Granny Hexagons
Hexagons are one of the most versatile motifs in crochet. They can be turned into anything from blankets to stuffed animals and anything in between. Similarly, there are as many different variations of a crocheted hexagon as there are patterns. Some are solid, some are lacy, and some, like this pattern, are done in a granny style. Granny style projects have a built-in advantage in that they can be joined to one another as they are completed. That’s a HUGE advantage to someone like me who really hates joining pieces together the hard way. This tutorial will show you my version of a granny hexagon and outline how to attach them together.

Join-As-You-Go
In the join-as-you-go method, you will complete Rounds 1 and 2, then begin joining during Round 3.
Complete Round 2, ch 3 and turn. Dc 2 in sp created between corner sections, 3 dc in ch 2 sp.
Step 1: Ch 1, sl st into bottom left corner of the above hexagon, working clockwise.
Step 2: Dc 3 in ch 2 sp to complete the corner of the working hexagon.
Step 3: Sl st in the sp to the right of the center 3 dc of the above hexagon.
Step 4: Dc 3 in sp between corner sections of the working hexagon.
Step 5: Sl st in sp to the left of the center 3 dc of the above hexagon.
Step 6: Dc 3 in ch 2 sp of the working hexagon.
Step 7: Sl st into the ch 2 corner sp of the above hexagon.
If continuing to join, sl st into the ch 2 corner sp of the next hexagon (from the purple to the green).
Repeat Steps 2-7 until joining is complete.
Once the join is complete, ch 1 and complete Round 3 as usual.
